Since 1999, the North West Air Ambulance Charity has brought specialist and enhanced medical care to the critically ill and injured across Cheshire and the whole of the North West Region, from Stoke in the south to Cumbria in the North.

From their bases in Barton and Blackpool the charity operates three helicopters and three rapid response vehicles, bringing hospital treatment, including specialist paramedics, consultant-level doctors, medicines and vital equipment to patients in need of emergency medical treatments across our region. The Air Ambulance operate 7 days per week, 365 days per year across the cities, towns and villages of the North West, out on our network of motorways and in remote, hard to reach places.

The North West Air Ambulance work closely with the North West Ambulance Service, but are not part of the NHS and receive no government funding, relying entirely on the generosity of the people of the North West to provide their lifesaving support across the region.

Of the 2531 missions NWAA flew between 1st September 2019 & 31st August 2020, 398 were responding to incidents in Cheshire.

Jon Ward is the Head of High Value Giving at the North West Air Ambulance, this Zoom meeting gives an opportunity to hear him give an insight in to the crucial work the Air Ambulance undertake on a daily basis and how they support the people of Cheshire and whole of the North West region.
