Northgate Project – Update and Opportunity to vote for the name of the development

Help choose the name of our new square and arcade

With nearly a year before the Northgate scheme fully opens, you are invited to select from a shortlist of four options each for the name of the new square and arcade.

Following the submission of more than 800 suggestions by the public earlier this year, the shortlist has been selected to represent the unique history of Chester and the Northgate site, and help incorporate the new development into the fabric of the city. Vote at www.chesternorthgate.com/naming before the closing date of 5th November.

      The options are:

      Arcade

  •       Coachworks Arcade
  •       Via Victrix
  •       Minerva Arcade
  •       Holme’s Arcade

      Square

  •       The Castrum
  •       Exchange Square
  •       The Market Garden
  •       Fortress Square

Multi-storey car park tops out

The final concrete slab was recently lifted into position. Over 400 precast concrete floor slabs, up to 16m long and weighing over 200 tonnes each, were transported onto the site and installed with the help of a huge crane over 140m tall – the equivalent of 25 adult giraffes!

Work is now underway to complete the interior fittings, exterior cladding and brickwork to the two stair cores.

Reminder: First Clockwise lifting

Nicholas Street is planned to reopen to two-way traffic on 25th October, following the completion of the first five sections of the new surface water drain. More information: www.clockwisechester.com
